Great Falls-Reston Soccer, Sterling Soccer announce strategic partnership
May 11, 2018
Great Falls/Reston, VA – Great Falls-Reston Soccer Club (GFR) has formed a strategic alliance with Sterling Youth Soccer Association in a unique inter-county partnership intended to provide more opportunities for players of all abilities in Great Falls, Reston, Sterling and the surrounding communities.
The two clubs will remain independent, but will collaborate extensively in many areas in an effort to bring the highest quality soccer programming to more players.
“This alliance demonstrates Sterling Soccer’s continued commitment to its strategic plan by helping us execute in many areas of player development, collaborate in community engagement, and share operational best practices for the betterment of both clubs”, said Colin Deaso, Sterling Soccer president. “We will gain a lot of insight and support from GFR, while opening up additional pathways for players, all while remaining independent.”
The alliance follows the recent formal merger of Reston Soccer Association and Great Falls Soccer Club into “GFR”. All three clubs have been collaborating for over two years on player programs for both clubs’ youngest players. However, both GFR and Sterling Soccer executives want to make it clear to their membership that this is not a merger. GRF is a Fairfax County based organization, while Sterling serves Eastern Loudoun County. Both will continue to operate and offer programs independently.
The collaborative efforts of this new partnership are intended to bring the highest quality soccer programming to more players on both sides of the county line, share some new initiatives, as well as strengthen several ongoing programs already in progress.
